NOTICE OF PARISH COUNCIL ELECTIONS
Latest update from Truespeed (200Mbps broadband)
of the engineering work in Leigh is done. However, we are still
awaiting wayleaves from a few landowners. This is delaying the project
as we can’t complete our network build and connect Leigh until we
can access the land in question. My best estimate is that this has
delayed the Leigh on Mendip and Tadhill connection date until May.I
am sorry about the delay. We will endeavour to keep you informed as
things develop. Neil Rogers is now the lead on Community Engagement for
Leigh on Mendip and the surrounding area.

DO YOU KNOW WHO OWNS THE "DRANG" ?
The Parish Council would
like help to find the owner of the “Drang” footpath which runs between the
church and Bellfield.
Although it is a Public
Right of Way, the ownership of the land is unknown. We have confirmed that it
is not owned by Somerset County Council or Mendip District Council or recorded
by Land Registry. Our next stage is to enquire locally.
For many years we have
relied on neighbours and other volunteers for its upkeep but our aim is to
ensure that the path is maintained (by the landowner). If no owner can be found
the Parish Council will endeavour to register ownership and take on responsibility
for the maintenance.
If you have any knowledge or
property documents which may indicate who owns the “Drang” please contact
myself by email, phone or letter.
Many thanks for your help
community café in the church is reopening for 2019 on

A VILLAGE RANGER
Parish Council is looking
for volunteers to help look after our footpaths, primarily any minor
pruning if necessary and reporting any significant access issues to the
Parish Path Liaison Officer (Parish
Councillor David Sparkes),
then liaise with Somerset Rights of Way. To identify
a footpath and stile which you may like to "adopt" click here. We've had a good response so
far but there are still some left! See
the current list here.
Note that it is the responsibility of the landowner to maintain Rights of Way.
