LEIGH ON MENDIP PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON 25 MARCH 2002
IN THE POST HOUSE, LEIGH STREET.
Councillors present: P Knowles, M Loten, P Moore, J Wright, Chairman, and A Gould who had sent his apologies in advance for his late arrival.
27 Park Hayes– a slightly modified plan had been submitted. No objection providing neighbour agreeable.
Erection of detached dwelling, Land at Bellfield. Applications for this site for a very similar sized dwelling had been submitted in 1987 and turned down at appeal in 1988.
A letter from a resident had been received pointing out the inaccuracy of the site plan which claimed about 40 feet of land not owned by the applicant.
Councillors were unanimous in rejecting this application on the grounds that it was: on land given a Q3 designation in the Local Plan as being an open space of "visual significance" due to its proximity to a Grade 1 building – the Church; contrary to the VDS adopted by Mendip as planning guidance; over development of the site; lacked adequate parking; has a mains sewer running through it; poor access.
Erection of conservatory to side, build in carport to form kitchen, 2 Bellfield.
No objections to plan provided materials used in sympathy with rest of building.
