MINUTES OF LEIGH-ON-MENDIP PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON MONDAY 29 MARCH 1993 IN THE SCHOOL

Councillors present were J Davis, H Mawdsley and S Haywood.
Apologies were accepted from D Pattison who was ill so JD chaired
the meeting.

Shelagh Haywood was welcomed as a Councillor and signed the
Declaration of Acceptance of Office.

EXAMINER HOUSE PLANNING APPLICATION
DT arrived.
This is a retrospective application for an off street car parking
area. Already in place is an area of hard standing which was
built without planning permission. A Gould and R Dixon arrived.
The area in question is a 6.3 metre strip along the back of the
terrace of houses adjacent to Examiner House.
When the application for change of use for the whole field was
made in December 1992 the PC objected on, among other things
access. The PC felt they could do no less than support the
Mendip District Council Officers report made on that application
which said:

"The Parking area which has been created is unduly prominent and
projects out from the boundaries of the adjacent properties, it
is accessed over a grassed area (part of a field) and would be
more prominent if this area were gravelled to gain better
vehicular access. Examiner House already benefits from off
street parking by way of a private drive between existing
properties and the parking area now proposed is not essential to
achieving off-street parking."
It recommended Enforcement Action to secure the removal of the
unauthorised parking area. (CLERK)

DEVELOPMENT AT PLEVNA
An outline plan for proposed development of land at Plevna to
include an area of Low Cost housing, 6 2 bedroom bungalows and 4
2/3 bedroom houses was shown to Councillors. It was agreed that
discussion ought to take place with MDC concerning the Village
Envelope before comments were made to the architect David A
Croydon on this idea. (CLERK)

An invitation to put a team in for the Brain of Leigh-on-Mendip
was discussed. RD was willing to form a team but lacked
supporters.

ITEMS FOR NEXT AGENDA
Plevna development, Wire by British Legion Houses, Rubbish
on/near the Footpath down to the Halecombe Brook from Leigh
Street, and Rave Party noise.

NEXT MEETING IS ON 26 APRIL 1993 IN THE SCHOOL AT 7.30pm.
