MINUTES OF LEIGH-ON-MENDIP PARISH COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 20 DECEMBER 1993 IN THE SCHOOL. Councillors present were D Pattison, Chairman, J Davis and H Mawdsley. DP welcomed A Merrick, County Councillors, and A Bull from SCC Solicitor's Department and Rowena Smith, Rights of Way Officer who had come to discuss the PC's objection to the Halecombe Footpath Diversion. DP had attended a meeting with WH organised by AM and a letter had been received dated 10 December 1994 - [A Gould, D Turner & R Dixon arrived]. This said 1) an agreed circular FP will be dedicated. 2) Drainage will be provided under the embankment which it is hoped will be completed within 18 months (info from G Williams for WH). 3) Subject to completion of the embankment and requirements of planting the Company will grant the same access rights as to the northern bank. 4)Where possible additional 'links' will be provided. [S Hayward arrived during this item]. A letter from SALC suggested that the PC should get legal agreement to certain points before dropping their objections. After discussion with Mr Bull it was proposed by DT and seconded by DP that the objection to the Footpath be withdrawn, 5 Councillors voted in favour, 1 abstained and 1 voted against. Motion carried. (CLERK) DP thanked Mrs Smith & Mr Bull for attending the meeting. ASPHALT PLANT A letter from Mr Hobden, SCC Minerals Dept, invited the PC to attend a site meeting on 5 January at the Quarry and afterwards at the Hall. RD, DT and DP will go. It was decided to leaflet the village. (RD & DT) Letter from SCC - Halecombes IDO permission revoked. MINUTES OF 15 NOV MEETING Village Survey - 88 returns to date all had agreed with proposal to acquire land for burials. Clerk will pursue matter. (CLERK) It was agreed to employ a copy typist at £3 per hour to type comments onto the computer. (DT & RD) 29 NOVEMBER - all letters sent. The Minutes were accepted and signed. FINANCE - A request for a grant from the school for PE equipment was to hand JD proposed £350, AG seconded the motion was passed with 1 abstention. (CLERK) Renewal of sub to Community Council for Somerset - DP proposed £10, JD seconded all agreed. (CLERK) Renewal of CPRE sub of £15 DT proposed, RD seconded all agreed. PLANNING Reconductoring of 2 Existing Overhead Lines and Add 1 Wire at The Old Vicarage & Limekiln Lane to Leigh Road. No objection. (CLERK) From MDC - The Cottage, Tadhill - permission granted. Amendments to The Chapel - granted. RD had attended a SCC/MDC quarrying meeting and was willing to give Councillors more info. Also had just heard that it was proposed L-O-M become part of South Somerset! NEXT MEETING 10 JANUARY 1994 IN THE SCHOOL.
