MINUTES OF LEIGH-ON-MENDIP PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
          HELD ON FRIDAY 7 OCTOBER 1994 IN THE SCHOOL.

Councillors present were H Daniels, J Davis, R Dixon & D Pattison.
(H Mawdsley's change of surname to Daniels was noted.)
Apologies were accepted from D Turner and M Loten.

RECREATION FIELD J Robson RFMC Secretary was present.
A  letter had been received from Chubb Beresford  concerning  the 
'car  park'  area.  It was agreed to form a  sub-committee  of  S 
Haywood,  D Pattison and J Robson to progress the  matter.   Plan 
889W/22 was given to JR and the other papers will be given to SH.

PLANNING  FERN COTTAGE - SINGLE DWELLING ON LAND AT REAR.
Improvement  on the first application for this site but  PC  felt 
that   although   letters  with  the  application   showed   that 
consultation  had  taken place with SCC Highways  their  original 
objections on  access to the site were still  valid.  
Residents at the Chapel and Old School have not been notified.
RD took plans to show neighbours.                         (CLERK)
GREAT  HOUSE FARM - CHANGE OF USE TO RESIDENTIAL AND CREATION  OF 
CURTILAGE.
Plans  don't  show existing industrial access.   Same  objections 
still valid.                                            (CLERK)

WHITE HOUSE - DORMER WINDOW AT REAR.
No objections.  Raglan owner not consulted, RD took plans.(CLERK)

PORTICO  AT EXAMINER HOUSE - the Clerk had contcted SCC who  told 
her  that  MDC  believed  that  the  structure  needed   planning 
permission.   The matter had been left to be decided between  the 
applicant  and the DC as to whether a planning  application  waas 
necessary.   SCC  would  inform the PC if MDC decided  it  was  a 
Highways matter and not a planning department matter.

J  Davis requested that SCC be asked to repaint warning signs  at 
junction  of Old Wells Road and Green Lane following an  accident 
between  a  lorry and car to which the police  had  been  called.                                                   
Copy of letter will be sent to the Police.                (CLERK)

Letter from S Pitter thanking PC for their support for the Flower 
Festival.
Letter from J Featherstone concerning Burial Ground.
A complaint about vandalism in the village had been received, it 
was decided to recommend an approach to the District Councillor.

RD  drew  Councillor's  attention to a  newspaper  article  about 
Whatley Quarry Planning Application.
The Clerk had been contacted by Jeff Treece of SCC who wanted  to 
talk  to  some councillors about SCC Strategic Review.   She  had 
suggested  he meet H Daniels, J Davis, D Pattison and  D  Turner.  
They agreed to meet Mr Treece on Friday 21 October.      (CLERK)
