MINUTES OF LEIGH-ON-MENDIP PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON FRIDAY 27 FEBRUARY 1998 AT DOORS HILL FARM.

Councillors present: J Davis, M Loten, P Moore, D
Pattison(Chairman), and D Turner.

Apologies were accepted from R Dixon and J Wright.

RECREATION FIELD

A request had been received from J Robson Chairman of the Rec
Field Management Committee to manage the job of the purchase and
erection of the swings for the play area. Councillors were
impressed at the speed with which the money had been raised and
congratulated the people concerned on their hard work. DP
proposed managing the project, ML seconded and all agreed.
Peter Lacey of SALC had been consulted regarding the reclaiming
of VAT on this project - his reply was read out to Councillors
and it was agreed that it would appear from it and our own
consultation of
that VAT could be reclaimed on the part of the purchase made with
money granted from public funds. It would seem that any VAT
claimed becomes the 'property' of the Parish Council. It was
agreed to place the order for the swings with Wicksteed Leisure
as per their quotation no 5/3212 by fax on 28/02/98 and inform JR
of the outcome of the meeting. (CLERK)
Further consultation will take place with SALC on this.(ML&CLERK)

DP reported that the solicitor had written to say that the
Transfer document for the Land for the Car Park at the Rec Field
was being progressed and the matter ought to be concluded fairly
soon.

The Clerk reported that 2000 was being transfered from the
Investment a/c as completion on the cemetery land was expected by
the end of March. It was agreed that work ought to start on
clearing the land asap. Letters had been sent to local builders
asking for quotes for work on the wall.

JW had passed 2 papers from SALC to the Clerk on "The Future of
Regional Planning Guidance - Consultation Paper" and "Modernising
Local Government". They will be circulated for comments and
discussion at the next meeting.

Items For Next Agenda: Cemetery - Clerk, Clearing, VAT
Registration. Document Box - fireproof.

The Next PC Meeting is on 16 March in the School.
