Leigh on Mendip Open Space

Consultation (September 2020)

Help us decide what to put here, and to prove to grant awarding bodies that we have local support, by filling in the online questionnaire, which needs to be done by the end of September.

We have shown two of the main play equipment companies the results of the first round of consultation, and asked them to give us plans for how they would contribute to the project.

Play Equipment Lists

The pictures and plans are their proposals to satisfy the first consultation, but we will not be implementing either one as they have suggested.  We can mix and match from both, and we can do some elements much cheaper on our own, for example we can probably get big rocks locally (!), we can do our own planting, and we can get picnic tables locally.

The new play area will be focussed around the east end of the space, close to the existing play area.  The other end will be more about planting and exercise.

We almost certainly won’t be doing it very soon.  We will need to get planning permission, and then apply for grants.

We won’t be doing it all at once either.  In the past we’ve had success at getting grants (the pump track cost about £25,000), but the current situation is very different, and these plans are much more expensive than that.  So we will have to do it in phases, as we get the money in.

So, please look at the plans at the links above, and at the Play Equipment lists, decide the numbers of the equipment you prefer, and then go to this link

and complete the SurveyMonkey questionnaire.  The answers will be confidential to the Rec Field Committee.
