15 March 2021

Dear Customer.

I hope you have kept safe and well during our latest lockdown due to the Covid-19 virus. It looks like our restricted lives are at last being relaxed a little as the Government sets out its plans to bring us out of lock down.  With this relaxation comes the news that the Mobile Library is being scheduled to re-start on Tuesday 13th April 2021.  Please be aware that this could be subject to change given any changes to Government plans, or a surge in the number of covid cases in Somerset.

In addition, we are allowing browsing for your own books on board the vehicle, there will be no need to pre-order your books or for me to choose books for you straight from the shelves, you will be able to do this yourself!

However, we are not out of the woods yet. There will be some restrictions that will need to be maintained:

If you have reservations about coming on board the vehicle, then I can still take books off the shelves for you and issue them. It’s not a problem. I will continue to support you.

If you are continuing to ‘shield’ and not able to leave your home, you may like to access the Home Library Service whose volunteers are currently offering a book drop to customers.  To access this service please email

kirsty Jenssen kirsty.Jenssen@royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk or ring 07920 250834.

You may also be interested in our continuation to develop our online offers, with further investment in e-resources including booksaudiobooksmagazinesgraphic novels & comics and newspapers, all available to download free of charge to library members. There are also over 150 videos for people to enjoy via the Somerset Libraries Facebook and webpages, including story-times, gardening and cooking tips and some engaging health and wellbeing videos.

With these restrictions in place coupled with your continued patience and co-operation during this pandemic, I’m sure we will be able to provide the safest environment for us all. And, as the vaccine programme extends through the age groups, we shall see a greater lifting of these restrictions, with the aim of normality somewhere in the future, if the infection numbers are with us!!

I have attached the schedule we shall be operating. It is the same schedule issued at the end of last year, but sent again, just in case.

Unless you hear from me again, then I look forward to seeing you sometime very soon. In the meantime, continue to stay safe and well and a very happy Easter!!

Kenny.

Best regards
