This closed local social networking Facebook group has proved very popular across the community to publicise local events, items for sale/free, lost animals and lots of other items of local interest. There are rules to ensure that it keeps to only village interests and with limited local advertising.

About this group

Welcome to the Leigh on Mendip Facebook Group. The Parish Council set up the group but it is run by the community for the benefit of villagers and village organisations.

This is a community page for LOM residents and others with strong links to the village, such as children at the school. Posts should be relevant to the community so we encourage you to post about local events, discuss village concerns or ask for recommendations from other members.

The village website http://www.leigh-on-mendip.org.uk/ also has information about local events, businesses and concerns.

You can invite other villagers to join, but please let them know that they’ll need to visit the group and agree to the rules before their membership is approved.

Local businesses may occasionally share posts of specific interest to LOM residents. To avoid excessive adverts this should be no more than quarterly. Facebook advertising rules apply. Local businesses are listed on the village website. Contact the webmaster to add your business.

Any other posts may be deleted without notice and the author put on post approval.

New members will be put on post approval to ensure posts are genuine.
