| The village Community Speed Watch team is looking for volunteers. Do you have concerns about the speed of vehicles coming through the village? Are you willing to spare an hour a week and join the Leigh On Mendip Community Speed Watch (CSW) group to do something about it? Community Speed Watch is made up of a network of community volunteers who monitor traffic speeds through scheduled high-visibility roadside sessions. One of the police objectives of these sessions is to “enhance road safety to improve the quality of life in our communities”. Fortunately Leigh on Mendip does not have a great problem with speeding, but in the last year vehicles have been recorded travelling as high as 49mph in the village. Our group’s aim is to be visible to deter drivers from exceeding the speed limit and be more careful, especially near the school. Our small team needs new members. Training, equipment and insurance is provided by the police. If you would like to know more about CSW please let the Parish Clerk know at parish.clerk@leigh-on-mendip.org.uk in the first instance or speak to one of the team when you see them.
