WASTE COLLECTION DATES

Collections start from 6am
Recycling: Sat6, 12, 19, 26 (every Friday)
Refuse Bin: 19 (every 3rd Friday)

Garden Waste: Sat6, 19 (fortnightly Fridays)

NB Check the dates of collections after a bank Holiday
(1 day later after Easter Monday)

WI MEETING (Memorial Hall).  The speaker will be Mary Cross from Organic Matters who will give a talk and slideshow on all aspects of willow with a demonstration of a plant support at the end. Friday 12th
THE LEIGH LUNCH (Memorial Hall)  Open from 11.30am for coffee with table service. £6 for a 2-course hot lunch, including hot drinks. Email v.l.higginsfox@btinternet.com or call 01373 812087 to book by Tuesday 9th at the latest. Dietary needs catered for – just let us know when you book. Everyone is welcome.

MEMORIAL HALL MAINTENANCE DAY We have our annual hall clean up day planned to catch up on any small jobs that may need doing. All volunteers are welcome, tea and coffee will be provided. The hall is a great village facility so please do come and get involved.
Monday 15th 7:00pm PARISH COUNCIL MEETING (Memorial Hall) Agenda – see Village Parish Council Noticeboards, 3 days before the meeting. Parishioners welcome to attend.
Saturday & Sunday 20th & 21st 10:am to 2:00pm
ST GILES CHURCH SPRING CLEAN The ‘Friends of Leigh Church‘ have organised a Spring Clean for our beautiful Grade I-Listed Church of St Giles. Between 10am and 2pm on both days, we will be giving the inside of the church a spruce-up. Also, our brilliant Village Rangers will be tidying outdoors, around the building and churchyard, weather permitting. Tea, coffee, cake and biscuits will be on offer to helpers. If you can spare an hour or two, inside or out, we would love to see you. Equipment will be provided, but you are welcome to bring some, too.

Tuesday 23rd 6:30pmANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETING (St Giles Church) This is an important meeting, open to all, and a great opportunity to find out more about the life and work of the church in our village and to consider getting involved. We look forward to seeing you there.

WALK IN AID OF ACWW (from Memorial Hall) The WI are arranging to Walk in aid of ACWW (Associated Country Women of the World). We invite everyone (men, women, children and dogs!) to join us.  We plan 2 walks of different lengths (longest no more than an hour).  Refreshments, of course, back at the Hall.  Served from 3pm – all welcome – not just for those who have walked. LIGHTING OF THE BEACON (Rec Field) Part of a national event to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day . Come along to pay your respects. More details to follow.
Saturday 8th June from 12:00 noonOPENING OF CORONATION PARK Formal opening of Coronation Park. Those who remember the pump track opening will know the sort of thing – a PARTY! BBQ & bar – ribbon cutting 1pm
Sunday 7th July 11:00am to 4:00pmOPEN GARDENS Do you love your garden? Could you share your front or back garden with jolly visitors for a few hours on Sunday 7th July? It’s not too late to register for Friends of Leigh Church‘s popular ‘Open Gardens and Heritage Trail’ event. This is NOT a competition – more a celebration – to share the beauty in our village gardens with others – be they big or small, manicured or wild, traditional or modern or a ‘work in progress’! Chat about plants, get ideas and inspiration, discover new varieties, share tips and meet new people from the village and beyond.
