Fundraising for the Play Equipment
The Bell Inn has been helping with a “Pick a House” competition to win a print of the village generously donated by local artist Mike Bloxham.
Latest News – November
Coronation Park As many of you will have seen, the work is well under way and may even be finished by the time this appears. Yippeeeee!! Please keep off the newly seeded grass areas until the grass has grown, including the old play area. We have two more grants in the bag, from Whatley and Westdown Quarries and from the Somerset Association of Local Councils, so there will be some more to come!
We are delighted that Mike Bloxham has sold so many prints of village scenes at the super Arts & Craft show, and has donated the proceeds to the rec field to support the play area. This is a wonderful generous gesture from a very talented artist.
Wreath Making Vanessa has once again volunteered to run the wreath making workshop this year. It will be on Sunday 10 December at 1030. Tickets £20. Bookings by leaving a message or texting 07801 235490.
Mulled wine and mince pies will feature again, of course.
Quiz It’s not too late to get a table for our very first quiz in support of the rec. It’s on Fri 3 November at the Memorial Hall. Bar opens 7pm, quiz starts 7.30. There will be nibbles. Table bookings to me on 07811 361661 or Ty on 07807 266406. Many thanks to Des and Wendy for setting the questions.
Bonus Club Thank you so much to all of you who bought tickets for the new year of our competition. It makes the rec a substantial sum every year and makes a big contribution to the costs of maintaining the rec in such good shape The winners in the first draw of the year in October are Rosita Sparkes and John at the Bell, with number 26. They should have their £20 by now.
What a village we live in!
